From Musa Muhammad Kutama, Calabar
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Cross River State under the Tanimu Turaki (SAN)-led National Working Committee (NWC), Mr. Julius Udayi, has declared that he is the only duly recognised governorship candidate of the party for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press briefing in Calabar, Udayi said the briefing became necessary following what he described as attempts by certain individuals to mislead party members and the public by parading themselves as PDP governorship aspirants in the state.
He maintained that the position of his faction is backed by judgments of the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, which, according to him, affirmed the authenticity of the Tanimu Turaki-led leadership of the PDP.
Udayi stated that all candidates produced under the recognised leadership are the duly nominated flag bearers of the party for the 2027 general elections in Cross River State.
He alleged that some individuals were falsely presenting themselves as PDP candidates, insisting that they neither represent the authentic leadership nor the recognised structure of the party.
The governorship candidate urged party members, supporters, stakeholders, security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the general public to disregard what he described as misleading claims capable of creating confusion among voters.
He further assured that the PDP under the Tanimu Turaki-led leadership would remain committed to promoting peace, progress and prosperity in Cross River State and Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
