The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND), under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is transforming healthcare education in Kano State through strategic investments in infrastructure, technology, and human capital development.
Recognising that a strong healthcare system begins with the proper training of health professionals, Governor Yusuf entrusted the leadership of KHETFUND to Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen. Her commitment to integrity, transparency, accountability, and excellence has continued to drive remarkable progress in the state’s health sector.
One of KHETFUND’s most significant interventions is at the School of Health Technology, Bebeji, where the Fund has established a modern ICT Training Centre equipped with contemporary computer systems and digital learning facilities.

The centre provides students with access to computer-based learning, digital research, and practical ICT skills that meet national and international educational standards.
To further strengthen practical training, KHETFUND has equipped the institution’s Medical Laboratory with modern scientific equipment, enabling students to gain hands-on experience using technologies comparable to those found in modern healthcare facilities.

The Fund has also constructed a state-of-the-art Demonstration Room to support practical teaching, clinical simulations, and skills acquisition, thereby enhancing the quality of instruction and preparing students for real-life clinical practice.
These interventions have significantly improved the quality of education while reducing the financial burden on students and their parents. Previously, students had to contribute money for transportation to private ICT centres and laboratories to undertake practical sessions and computer-based examinations.
With the new facilities now available within the institution, students can complete their practical training in a conducive learning environment without incurring additional costs.
The investment reflects KHETFUND’s unwavering commitment to strengthening institutional accreditation, improving the quality of health education, and enhancing healthcare workforce development in Kano State.
It also demonstrates the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to building a world-class health workforce capable of meeting global standards while delivering quality healthcare services to the people of Kano State.
Through the dedicated leadership of Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, KHETFUND continues to translate the Governor’s vision into tangible achievements, setting new standards of excellence in health sector development and positioning Kano State as a leading centre for the training of healthcare professionals in Nigeria.
