Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has urged the people of the state to sustain prayers for peace, unity and continued development, saying the prayers offered by parents, Islamic scholars and members of the public have remained an important source of strength for the administration.
The governor made the call in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Chief of Staff to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Sulaiman Sani Wali MNI at the fourth edition of a special prayer gathering held in Open arena of government House Kano.
Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to Allah for granting participants the opportunity to attend the gathering, stressing that the prayers conducted by parents, scholars and other members of the public both privately and publicly, were contributing to the pursuit of lasting peace and stability in the state.
He assured the gathering that his administration remained open to constructive advice, guidance and recommendations capable of helping the government improve its programmes and policies and deliver greater development to the people of Kano.
The governor also called on residents to continue praying for the state and to promote unity, justice and peaceful coexistence while urging leaders to remain committed to discharging the responsibilities entrusted to them by the people.
“On the issue of security and elections, I will not say much because our elders and Islamic scholars have already made various pronouncements at this gathering,” Governor Yusuf said.
He thanked all participants for attending the gathering and prayed for their safe return to their respective destinations.
Speaking at the event the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tsangayu Affairs and one of the leaders of the organising committee, Gwani Musa Hamza Falaki said the prayer gathering focused on issues of direct benefit to Kano State as well as exploring ways through which lasting peace could be promoted across the state.
Gwani Musa said the gathering provided an opportunity for scholars and members of the community to come together in prayer and seek divine guidance on matters affecting the state, stressing that peace and unity remained essential foundations for meaningful development.
In a message delivered on behalf of the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, by the Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta, the Emir called for continued unity and cooperation among the people, noting that collective efforts were necessary to achieve the desired objectives in the administration of their daily affairs.
Various Islamic scholars who spoke at the gathering emphasised the importance of prayer and regular recitation of the Holy Qur’an, urging Muslims to seek Allah’s guidance and blessings in all their affairs.
The scholars also prayed for the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf the organisers of the gathering and the people of Kano State while seeking lasting peace, prosperity and progress for the state and the country.
