Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, has joined other leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State in efforts to strengthen the party.
Senator Lalong participated in a strategic meeting convened by Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
The meeting brought together APC candidates and aspirants who contested the party’s recent primaries.
The meeting focused on reconciliation, unity and the need to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Mutfwang urged party stakeholders to set aside personal interests and work together in the collective interest of the APC and Plateau State, stressing the importance of unity and cooperation among members.
Senator Lalong reiterated that the APC remains one family and called on all stakeholders to close ranks and work collectively towards the success of the party and its candidates in the 2027 elections.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the success of the APC in Plateau State, including the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and urged members to remain focused, united and committed to the overall objectives of the party.
Also on Wednesday, Senator Lalong held a separate meeting with APC aspirants from the Plateau Southern Senatorial Zone, where he further emphasised the need for unity, reconciliation and stronger engagement with the people ahead of the elections.
He urged the aspirants to close ranks, build bridges and work together to project the strength and unity of the party across the zone.
Lalong stressed that robust engagement with the people remained critical to building confidence and securing victory for the APC in 2027.
The aspirants were led by the former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Sule, who expressed profound appreciation to Senator Lalong for his leadership and contributions to the development of the APC over the years.
Sule commended Senator Lalong for remaining impactful in service and leadership at the zonal, state and national levels, describing his continued commitment to the party and the people as significant to the ongoing efforts to strengthen the APC.
Senator Lalong said the current reconciliation efforts should provide an opportunity for all members to unite, put the interests of the party and Plateau State first, and work towards presenting a formidable team capable of delivering victory for the APC at all levels in 2027.
