The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as Shehu ABG, has urged candidates contesting the 2027 National and State Assembly elections on the platform of the party to unite and work collectively towards the success of the PDP.
Shehu ABG made the call at a meeting with PDP candidates and aspirants held on Saturday at his campaign office in Kaduna.
According to a statement signed by Yusuf Idris, spokesperson to Hon. Shehu ABG, the meeting was attended by candidates contesting seats in the House of Representatives and the Kaduna State House of Assembly, as well as aspirants who participated in the party’s last primary elections.
The governorship candidate stressed the need for all candidates and party members to put aside their differences and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“As we prepare for the general elections, it is important that we set aside our differences and work together for the success of our party. Our collective success hinges on our ability to unite as candidates and as a party towards achieving a common cause,” he said.
Shehu ABG also appealed to aspirants who did not secure the party’s nomination to support those who emerged from the primary elections, saying unity remained essential to strengthening the party.
“We have a vision that would move Kaduna State forward. We also have a responsibility to our party and our constituents. By supporting one another, we can amplify our voices and present a united front to the electorate,” he added.
The PDP governorship candidate also expressed concern over what he described as attacks on some opposition political parties, describing such actions as “primitive” and contrary to the political progress of the nation.
He called for a political environment that would allow political parties and candidates to engage freely with the electorate and present their programmes.
The statement said participants at the meeting also committed themselves to collaborative efforts and greater solidarity aimed at strengthening the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
