From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Katsina State Government, in collaboration with Matazu Local Government Area, has executed about 200 projects aimed at improving the living standards of residents.
Governor Dikko Umar Radda disclosed this during a campaign tour of the area.
Radda explained that the projects covered the construction and renovation of schools, upgrading of primary healthcare centres, provision of water facilities and distribution of fertiliser to farmers, among others.
He said that, in collaboration with the Federal Government, his administration had restored peace in Matazu, appreciating the contributions of security agencies to protecting lives and property across communities in the local government area.
Impressed by the large turnout of APC supporters at the campaign venue, the governor described Matazu as an APC-controlled area and called on residents to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
He said his relationship with Matazu extended beyond political considerations, describing it as a longstanding relationship rooted in family ties.
Radda assured residents that his administration would continue to work with the Federal Government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
Earlier, Governor Radda had paid a visit to the palace of the District Head of Matazu, where he reaffirmed his administration’s support for traditional rulers in the discharge of their responsibilities.
“We have come to express our appreciation, seek your continued support and prayers, and strengthen our relationship with you and the communities,” he said.
Responding, the District Head, Iro Maikano, commended the governor for maintaining a cordial relationship with traditional institutions and recognising their role in community development.
Maikano also praised the state government for addressing insecurity in the area, saying no community had experienced an attack for several months.
He attributed the sustained peace to the introduction of dialogue among security agencies, farmers, pastoralists and community leaders.
