Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Yusuf, who died late yesterday, will be buried in Kuje by 2 pm today, The Triumph gathered.
Awwal Yusuf was an indigene of Lokoja who spent his lifetime in Kuje where he served as a judge and established Arabic schools and mosques.
The Triumph learnt that the late cleric is survived by four wives and 15 children who had insisted that his remains should be taken to Lokoja for burial.
According to sources, prominent indigenes of Lokoja had also wanted the late scholar to be buried in his home town.
However, some Muslim leaders in Kuje and other parts of the Ral Capital Territory prevailed on the Lokoja stakeholders to allow them to bury Sheikh Awwal Yusuf in Kuje.
Sources said a delegation from the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikafi, was on their way to Kuje for the burial of the late scholar.
The late Awwal Yusuf was prominent as a result of his excellent credentials as someone who had the opportunity to memorize the Glorious Qur’an at the age of 14, a feat that made him stand out exceptionally different among his peers.
