…Directed DPMs to take charge of the local govt

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has dissolved the caretaker chairmen of all 44 local government areas in the state.
The governor announced the decision during a special meeting held at the Africa House, Government House Kano on Wednesday
The dissolution comes just a week after the Kano State House of Assembly approved a two-month extension to the tenure of the caretaker chairmen, which was set to expire on September 8, 2024.
The extension, slated to run from September 9 to November 9, 2024, was deemed necessary to ensure continuity in local governance.
However, ”With local government elections scheduled for October 26, 2024, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed the caretaker chairmen to hand over leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management.
“This dissolution applies to all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors.”
The governor expressed gratitude to the caretaker chairmen for their contributions to the development of their areas and hinted at potential future collaborations.
The caretaker chairmen, in turn, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve their communities.
”We are warning the DPMs to make sure they will not interfere in any political activities as respected civil servants,” he further stated
Finally, the governor appealed to them to discharge their duties in a good face while directing the anti-corruption to arrange a seminar for them that would enhance their capacity to avoid any temper or harm.
