The United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) is to finance construction of 152 houses for victims of banditry in Jibia local government area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Rural and Social Development, Prof. Abdul Hamid Ahmed Mani revealed this while speaking with newsmen.
Ahmed said already the state government has provided land for the commencement of the project
He said UNDP ha alsos agreed to provide street light along housing estate.
The Commissioner said the state government will on its part construct road, culvert and drainages.
He noted that the construction of the houses will ease accommodation problem facing by the victims.
He said, “Most of the victims are occupying uncompleted houses while some are staying in rented places.
He commended the UNDP for its intervention in many areas to address challenges facing the state.
He recalled that recently UNDP organised capacity building training for security personnel stationed at boarder areas.He said the training is eguip them with modern technology toward eliminating movement of illicit drugs and weapons through , Nigeria/Niger Republic boarders.
