The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has been awarded the prestigious Peace Ambassador Award by a group, Wazobia Conflict Resolution and Peace Advocacy Initiative (WACORPAI).
Rt. Comr. Amb. Garba Suleiman Marafa, National President of WACORPAI, while presenting the award, explained that Comrade Gwarzo was honoured for his proven record of selfless service, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and promoting unity among diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria and beyond.
Marafa, addressing the Deputy Governor, said, “First, you will be awarded for your untarnished reputation and good integrity built over decades.”
“Second, you will be awarded for your exemplary leadership qualities, excellent national and international contributions to peacebuilding and socio-economic, religious and political development of our dear country, Nigeria,” he said.
Receiving the award, Deputy Governor Gwarzo expressed gratitude to WACORPAI for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace in Nigeria and beyond.
Supported by the Permanent Secretary for Special Duties, Aminu Yusuf Kura while accepting the award, the Deputy Governor used the occasion to urge Nigerians to embrace unity in diversity and set aside ethno-religious differences, which often fuel unrest in the country.
“If we embrace peace and unity as Nigerians, we will achieve the Nigeria of our dreams, where progress flows and leads to economic prosperity for the benefit of all,” Comrade Gwarzo said.
