The Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) has strongly condemned the unlawful detention of minors who participated in the #EndBadGovernance protests.
The organization expressed deep concern over the inhumane conditions these young individuals have endured while incarcerated.
CHRICED highlighted the government’s failure to address the root causes of the protests, including widespread hunger and economic hardship.
The organization emphasized that the detention of minors is a violation of their fundamental human rights and contravenes international and domestic laws.
The group called for the immediate and unconditional release of the detained minors, urging the judiciary to reconsider the exorbitant bail conditions imposed by the court.
CHRICED further urged the government to prioritize the welfare of its citizens and to uphold the principles of justice and human rights.
The organization stressed the importance of addressing the underlying issues that led to the protests, such as economic inequality and poor governance.
By addressing these issues, the government can prevent future social unrest and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
