From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
Students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto have tendered an apology to Abubakar Muhammad Salame, the State Governor’s Adviser on Students Matters, regarding alleged scholarship payment issues.
Usman Yahuza, the students’ spokesperson, explained that after conducting a thorough investigation, they discovered that Salame’s office was only responsible for verifying and submitting student lists, not making payments.
Yahuza expressed regret for any harm caused to Salame’s reputation and committed to verifying information before making public accusations in the future.
This apology follows previous allegations that Salame failed to settle tuition fees for students despite Governor Aliyu providing funds.
Initially, the students claimed that while the state government approved tuition fee payments for 5,994 students, only 5,290 received their payments, leaving 774 unpaid.
Yahuza led the group in accusing Salame of mishandling the payments.
In a press conference, Yahuza clarified that Salame’s office was not responsible for the payment discrepancies, and apologized for any misleading information.
