The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS) in achieving greater heights.
This pledge was made during the Maiden National Congress Meeting of the AKCILS Alumni Association and a fundraising event held at the college earlier on Thursday.
The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who doubles as the Commissioner for Higher Education, emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring the institution meets and surpasses the standards set by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and other accreditation bodies.
“The Ministry for Higher Education is committed to providing the necessary resources, policy frameworks, and advocacy to enable the college to achieve its goals,” Gwarzo said.
He called on all attendees to actively contribute to the progress of AKCILS.
“The success of the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies is not solely the responsibility of its current staff and students but also rests with all of you as alumni,” he noted.
“Let us remain engaged, supportive, and dedicated to ensuring the continued growth and excellence of the college,” Gwarzo added.
Speaking earlier, the Provost of AKCILS, Prof. Balarabe Abubakar Jakada, welcomed participants to the historic event, describing the gathering as a testament to the strength and influence of the alumni network.
“The conference provides a platform for alumni to reconnect, exchange ideas, learn from one another, and contribute to the advancement of the college,” Prof. Jakada remarked.
Highlights of the event include the commissioning of projects by the Deputy Governor, which includes a newly built Students’ Centre named after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, a Security Outpost of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps named after the Deputy Governor as well as a Female Staff Offices named after Hajiya Bara Alhassan Dantata.
