As the Stars light shine the darken hour of the night, as the rainfall revitalizes the dry land back to life, that’s the replica of the efforts of the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, in revitalizing the lives of women and youth through aggressive empowerment initiatives to fight poverty and become financially stable.
The Peoples Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, is becoming the Champion of Women and youth Empowerment in the country.
On the 30th of September, 2025 the state witnessed yet another milestone in women and youth empowerment as the Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, launched the empowerment scheme that saw each beneficiary take home with One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000).
The beneficiaries drawn from all the 44 Local Government Areas of the State are Five Thousand Three Hundred and Eighty-Four (5,384) and cumulatively they gulped a total of Eight Hundred and Seventy Million Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N807,600, 000).
This is an approach by the people’s governor to fight poverty and entrench entrepreneurship among teeming youths, both women and men alike.
In his speech, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on the empowerment scheme, explicitly depicts that the money would help many of them to fight poverty and as a token capital for survival.
“Today, we gathered here to witness the empowerment of 5,384 Youth both men and Women with an amount of N150,000 each, totaling Eight Hundred and Seven Million Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N807,600,000) as a token capital that will improve their livelihood,” Governor Yusuf, has said recently.
This is a noble gesture that describes the Kano Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, as the compassionate and champion of youths’ empowerment.
In his 2023 campaign Blue Print, the Governor pledged to transform the lives of the teeming youth who make up over sixty percent of Kano’s population. Today, the ‘Journalists’ Most Friendly Governor’ is steadily turning that promise into reality, with visible strides that resonate across the state.
It is worth reminding readers that this is not the Governor’s first stride in empowerment. Earlier, he unveiled a women empowerment scheme under which more than 5,000 women across the 44 Local Government Councils receive a monthly support of fifty thousand naira (₦50,000) each, a bold initiative that has already begun reshaping lives and strengthening households.
Furthermore, under the visionary leadership of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, no fewer than 1,130 youths have successfully graduated from six revitalized Entrepreneurship Skills Institutes. These young men and women have been empowered with diverse skills ranging from livestock management, film production and editing, to informatics, data science, fisheries and poultry. This rare opportunity is not just about survival, but a bold investment in human capital development, opening new pathways for the future of Kano’s youth.
In addition to this, another set of youths, One Thousand One Hundred and Thirty (1,130) in number were given appointment letters to work with Ministry of agriculture and Natural Resources. All these are efforts of the executive Governor of Kano State aimed to improve the lives of teeming youths in the state, pin them down doing something and making both ends meet.
In another development, recently teachers are being employed who were formerly with Better Education for All (BESDA) and are largely youths, over 4,000 were given permanent and pensionable appointments, and before this latest employment, over 2,000 BESDA were also given appointment letters.
Today, the impact is undeniable that, thousands upon thousands of youths have been empowered, whether through apprenticeship training, start-up grants, or direct employment opportunities. Little wonder Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, is rightly celebrated as the true Champion of Youth Empowerment.
