Barely 24 hours to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Adamawa State, three aspirants have withdrawn from the race in support of fellow contender, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Galadima Aminu.
The aspirants who stepped down include Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Ibrahim Bello Thul, and Comrade Mustapha Salihu.
In separate announcements, the aspirants declared their support for Galadima Aminu, describing him as a unifying figure capable of leading the party to victory in the 2027 general elections.
Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar made his declaration during a political gathering held at Lamido Cinema in Yola, attended by party supporters, stakeholders, and political associates from across the state.
As a major highlight of the event, Engr. Abubakar announced a donation of N500 million to support the campaign of Galadima Aminu ahead of the APC governorship primary election.
Prominent APC figures at the gathering included Ambassador Kevin Peter, Hamisu Idris Medugu, and Mr. John Hamma, alongside supporters of both political leaders.
Addressing the audience, Engr. Abubakar said his decision to withdraw from the race was aimed at promoting unity within the APC and strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He described Galadima Aminu as a competent and experienced leader with a strong national political background, urging his supporters and political associates across the state to rally behind him during the primary election.
The event was marked by goodwill messages, prayers, and renewed commitment by party members toward securing victory for the APC in future elections.
Similarly, Ibrahim Bello Thul also withdrew from the race in what he described as a spirit of sportsmanship and solidarity.
Thul said Galadima Aminu remains a bridge-builder capable of uniting party faithful and advancing the collective interests of the APC in Adamawa State.
Also withdrawing from the contest was Comrade Mustapha Salihu, who said his decision was taken in the interest of party unity.
Salihu subsequently declared his intention to contest for the Adamawa Central Senatorial seat, stressing that the stability and success of the APC should take precedence over personal ambition.
In a press statement signed by his Head of Strategic Communication, Ahmad Sajoh, Salihu expressed appreciation to the people of Adamawa State, especially APC members, for the support and encouragement he received during his governorship aspiration.
According to the statement, Salihu stepped down following directives from the party’s national leadership and would now pursue the senatorial candidature for Adamawa Central.
Political observers believe the wave of endorsements and withdrawals signals growing support for Ahmed Galadima Aminu’s candidature as the APC intensifies preparations for future electoral contests in the state.
