The Adamawa State Government has debunked circulating rumors claiming that all schools in the state have been ordered closed.
A statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Humwashi Wonosikou, described the reports as misleading, malicious, and deliberately crafted to cause unnecessary tension.
“At no time has the government issued any directive to close schools,” the statement said, insisting that the false information is the handiwork of mischief makers aiming to sow confusion and undermine the administration’s progress in the education sector.
Governor Fintiri condemned the rumors in strong terms, describing them as baseless and unsubstantiated.
He urged parents, students, teachers, and the general public to disregard the report and continue with all academic activities uninterrupted, emphasizing that schools across the state remain open and fully operational.
The Governor warned that the government will not hesitate to take firm and decisive action against individuals or groups circulating falsehoods capable of destabilizing the state.
He stressed that the administration will not tolerate any attempts to sabotage its commitment to transform the education sector or disrupt public peace through the spread of misinformation.
Fintiri highlighted the significant gains his administration has recorded in education, noting that ongoing reforms and investments are aimed at strengthening learning environments and securing a brighter future for the state’s children.
He reiterated that his government remains focused on delivering quality education and will stay the course despite distractions from detractors.
The Governor appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of government initiatives, stressing that collective cooperation is essential to building a stronger and more progressive Adamawa State.
He also urged citizens to rely on verified information from official channels and avoid amplifying unsubstantiated claims.
While frowning at the misleading reports, Governor Fintiri issued a stern warning to those responsible for the rumors, advising them to desist immediately or face the full weight of the law.
He assured the public that the government will continue working tirelessly to make Adamawa a centre of educational excellence.
