Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour dusk-to-dawn curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area following a renewed crisis between the Chobo and Bachama communities.
The directive, announced on Sunday through the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
Governor Fintiri described the renewed conflict as unacceptable, warning that the state government would not tolerate any acts of violence or lawlessness in the affected communities.
“Government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” he said, adding that anyone found violating the directive would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Security agencies have been instructed to maintain law and order and ensure strict compliance with the curfew. Residents of Lamurde are urged to support authorities by providing information that could help restore peace.
The Governor reassured citizens that the state government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, and that all necessary measures will be taken to restore normalcy.
The conflict between Chobo and Bachama communities has escalated in recent days, prompting urgent intervention to prevent further mayhem. Authorities have emphasized that the government will not condone any further violence.
