…Gov. employs best graduate, offer scholarship to others

The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil has conferred Honorary Doctorate Degrees to former governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and four Other eminent Nigerians.

The conferment was part of activities marking the 5th Convocation ceremony and investiture of the University’s Chancellor held at the Convocation Arena of ADUSTECH, Wudil on Saturday.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, Saturday.

Delivering keynote address, the visitor to the University, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assured deepest commitment of his administration to strengthening the institutional capacity and academic standard of the university.

He added that part of the capacity strengthening efforts, the state government has approved additional 100 hectares for the expansion of the university, prioritizing physical Infrastructure, laboratories, lecture halls, students hostels, Internal road network, drainage system and luxurious buses to ease transportation needs of students and teachers to mention but a few.

He instantly offered employment to the Best Graduating Students and foreign scholarship to outstanding 9 students, while Alhaji Aliko Dangote offered automatic employment to the 9 students with First Class degrees.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf used the opportunity to congratulate the graduating students and urged them to embrace the moment not as the end of the journey but the beginning of service to humanity.

He doffed hat to Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso who established the University in 2001 that serves as legacy symbol of excellence and a citadel of learning not only to Kano State but to Nigeria as a whole.

The University’s Chancellor, Alhaji Aliko Dangote renewed commitment to continue assisting the University as plans are on the pipeline to unveil a five-year development project amounting to 15 billion naira in the areas of designing and construction of students hostels; construction of modern engineering laboratory.

Others according to Alhaji Aliko Dangote include: construction of a world class computer laboratory with uninterrupted internet service, mini-solar plant, construction of a befitting Senate Building and employment to best graduates of the University.

In a remark, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, spoke at length on the achievements recorded during his tenure in the aspects of courses accreditation, introduction of new courses, staff training and research.

Other awardees include: Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal, Engineer Prince Arthur Ikpechuku Eze, Dr. Ahmed Adeniyu Raji SAN and Alhaji Mustapha Ado Muhammad.

On behalf of the awardees, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwakwaso expressed gratitude to the University’s management for founding them worthy to be conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degrees.

He recalled with nostalgia how his foresight, doggedness and resilience resulted in the establishment of the then Kano State University of Science and Technology Wudil in 2001 that was later renamed Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology.

He expressed joy as the mission and vision of the founding father of the University has been achieved. He also commended other awardees for their immense support in executing various projects in the University..
