From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Abdulaziz Maituraka, has commended the immediate past governor of the state, Aminu Bello Masari, for refraining from interfering in the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda.
Speaking during a visit to the Correspondents’ Chapel, Maituraka praised Masari’s neutrality, stating that his decision has ensured political stability and facilitated the smooth running of Radda’s government.
“Masari’s non-interference has brought political stability to Katsina and unity among APC members,” he said.
He noted that Masari’s stance would earn him respect and solidify his position as a key political figure in Katsina.
Maituraka also urged other former governors to emulate Masari to maintain political peace in their respective states.
On the issue of insecurity in Katsina, the APC chieftain called on journalists to remain objective and avoid biased reporting on security matters.
He expressed concern over the spread of fabricated stories on social media, which, he said, were counterproductive in addressing security challenges.
“Most of these stories are fake and do not help the government and security agencies in tackling insecurity,” he said.
Maituraka urged journalists in the state to support the government’s efforts by providing accurate and useful information that could aid in addressing security issues.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim Jargaba, commended Maituraka for the visit, describing it as the first by any politician.
He assured that journalists would continue to uphold the ethics of their profession.
