The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday inaugurated its 2026 National Convention Committee, signaling the party’s readiness to conduct a well-structured and widely accepted national convention.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who expressed confidence in the committee’s capacity to deliver a transparent and credible exercise.
The 98-member committee will be chaired by Rt. Hon. Kabiru Aminu Masari, with Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State serving as Secretary.
In a press statement issued by Mamman Mohammad, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni, Prof. Yilwatda commended the calibre of the committee members, emphasizing that the party is expecting the best national convention in its history.
“I am sure this committee will organize a very free, fair, transparent, and widely accepted convention,” the APC chairman said, underlining the party’s commitment to credible internal democracy.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, the committee chairman, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, said the task ahead is made easier by the wealth of experience and expertise among the members.
“I am happy to have His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni — the encyclopedia of political party administration — as the Secretary of the committee,” Masari said. “He combines knowledge, experience in party administration, and conflict resolution, which will be invaluable for the success of this convention.”
The committee’s primary responsibility is to organize the national convention for the election of officials of the APC National Working Committee, a process expected to further consolidate the party’s structure and prepare it for future electoral contests.
The inauguration of the committee underscores the APC leadership’s focus on transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in party governance, setting the tone for a convention that stakeholders hope will strengthen internal cohesion.
