The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s security, stressing their readiness to protect lives and property at all costs.
Represented by Major General M.S. Ahmed, General Oluyede made this statement during the inauguration of a large-scale educational centre in Chinade, Katagum Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
The facility, constructed by Major General Aminu Shehu Chinade, Dean of the Faculty of Operational Research at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, includes six classrooms, two dormitories, and additional amenities designed to enhance access to quality education for both children and adults in the community.
“The Armed Forces remain steadfast in fulfilling our constitutional duty to protect the nation. We call on all citizens to support us in this mission,” General Oluyede said, commending Major General Chinade’s philanthropic efforts as a model of leadership and community service.
During the event, Major General Chinade shared that his inspiration for the initiative stemmed from his own educational journey, which was supported through free primary and secondary schooling.
His commitment to education has been further demonstrated through a scholarship foundation he established three years ago, which has benefited over 200 students.
“I am fulfilling my responsibility to give back to my community,” General Chinade remarked, expressing gratitude to the Bauchi State Government, the Emir of Katagum, and the local government council for their support.
The Emir of Katagum, Dr. Alhaji Umar Faruq Muhammad II, represented by the Ubandoma of Katagum, praised General Chinade’s efforts and urged others in the emirate to emulate his contributions to education and youth development.
Former Bauchi State Permanent Secretary Alhaji Sa’ad Bawa Chinade echoed these sentiments, describing the project as transformative for the community.
Hon. Nasiru Ala, a Member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, assured continued government support for the school, including plans for enhanced security and additional resources.
Ambassador Jibrin Dada Chinade, the event’s host, encouraged the youth to follow General Chinade’s example by launching projects that benefit their communities.
The event underscored the connection between national security and community development, with both the Army Chief and Major General Chinade setting a powerful example of leadership and service at all levels.
