The Bachama Chiefdom in Adamawa State has honoured no fewer than 10 first-class graduates of Bachama extraction who obtained first degrees from various institutions across the country.
The occasion is the first of its kind in the history of the Bachama Chiefdom and was organized under the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Hama Bachama, Homun Daniel Shaga Ismail, at the headquarters of the Numam Federation.
Speaking at the event, one of the recipients, Engr. Emmanuel Ayuba Misheiza, described the recognition of these promising young graduates by the royal father as one of the best things that can happen to any young man or woman pursuing a career.
Engr. Emmanuel Misheiza, who has distinguished himself in Nigeria’s aviation and entrepreneurial sector and was honoured with the title NJIRIYO BACHAMA (meaning “Marshal Eagle of Bachama”), noted that the event was not about him alone but about the recognition given to the young graduates.
Misheiza said, “I am passionate about education, and seeing young people being honoured for their academic achievements gives me joy because I have invested in the education of young people, particularly those who could not afford to attend school.”
The new Eagle of Bachama, a philanthropic organisation committed to supporting youths into universities, as well as assisting orphans and widows, commended the graduating students and encouraged them to keep it up.
“What the Hama has done today has made me put in more effort toward the development of our youths,” he said.
The newly honoured NJIRIYO BACHAMA, while thanking the Hama Bachama for the honour, promised to continue to inspire the next generation of African entrepreneurs through his commitment to nation-building, youth empowerment, and the pursuit of global competitiveness.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his Deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, called on the Bachama Chiefdom to embrace peaceful coexistence as a foundation for sustainable development and progress.
The conferment of honorary traditional titles on 22 distinguished sons, daughters, and friends of the Bachama Kingdom by Hama Bachama, Homun Dr. Daniel Ismaila Shaga, was also highlighted.
He emphasized that peace remains fundamental to human existence, providing the stability necessary for individuals to thrive, communities to develop, and societies to prosper.
In his remarks, the Hama Bachama stressed that the importance of peace to societal development cannot be overemphasized.
He called on all communities within the chiefdom to embrace unity, love, and mutual understanding.
“I urge you to pray and work tirelessly for the promotion of peace among yourselves,” the traditional ruler said.
Earlier speaking, the Secretary to the Government of Benue State (SSG), Mrs. Deborah Aber, commended the Hama Bachama and the Chiefdom for the historic event to honour their sons and daughters.
She highlighted that this has shown that Benue, Adamawa, and the Bachama people are good partners.
Responding on behalf of the recipients, former Executive Secretary of TETFund, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, expressed gratitude to the Bachama Chiefdom for finding them worthy of the honour.
He assured the traditional institution that the title holders would partner with the Chiefdom in promoting sustainable development.
The Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO), Mr. Obadiah Nkom, said traditional institutions have continued to champion social harmony, security, and integration within communities across the country.
He, who was conferred with the traditional title of Dyamso Bachama, emphasized that traditional rulers remain key drivers of peace, unity, and development in Nigeria.
He further noted that their role in fostering peaceful coexistence cannot be overemphasized.
Some of the recipients include Gen. TY Danjuma, Gen. Christopher Musa, the Minister of Defence, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, Engr. Peter Fwa, and others, including the coach of the Super Falcons.
