From Mustapha Saye, Kaduna
Bandits stormed the Danhonu community in Kaduna State on Saturday night, abducting two journalists, and their families, and leaving a trail of terror.
The victims include Alhaji AbdulGafar Alabelewe, Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, and AbdulRaheem Aodu, a reporter for Blueprint Newspaper.
The bandits, who came in large numbers, shot sporadically and scaled fences to gain access to the homes.
They shattered doors and windows, removing burglar bars to take their victims. The families of the journalists, including wives and children, were also taken.
The Kaduna State Council of NUJ has condemned the attack and appealed to security agencies to rescue the journalists and their families.
The council expressed dismay over the abduction and called on the government to intensify efforts to guarantee the security of lives and property.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the NUJ has enjoined all practising journalists in the state to be vigilant in their daily activities.
The union is praying for the safe return of their abducted colleagues and their families.
