Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has urged politicians, public office holders and other well-meaning individuals in the state to emulate the community development initiatives of philanthropist, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi DJ.
Buni made the call on Sunday while commissioning a Ruga settlement project constructed by Balarabe at a site about seven kilometres from Nguru town in Nguru Local Government Area of the state.
The governor commended the philanthropist for what he described as exemplary service to humanity, noting that the project had brought significant socio-economic benefits to the host community.
“I must commend and appreciate him on behalf of the good people of this community, Nguru Local Government, Yobe State and indeed Nigeria at large,” Buni said.
He added, “We have seen the transformative multiplier effect of this initiative, particularly the school, clinic and housing units provided in the Ruga settlement. This is highly commendable.”

The governor also commissioned a sesame seed processing factory in Machina, constructed by the state government, describing the facility as a critical investment aimed at promoting prudent utilisation of resources and boosting local economic activities.
“I am highly delighted to be here. The structure is impressive, and what we are witnessing represents a true commitment to judicious use of public resources,” he said.
According to Buni, the investment in the processing factory was justified by its clear purpose and potential impact, urging residents to make optimal use of the facility for the benefit of their community and the state.
He described the factory as one of several development projects being commissioned across Yobe State, adding that private sector participation remained vital to the success of the government’s development agenda.
“I therefore call on other public-spirited individuals to emulate this noble example and complement the efforts of the government,” the governor said.
