From Mustapha Saye, Kaduna
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has dismissed Samuel Aruwan, the pioneer Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, as part of a major cabinet reshuffle.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Musa. Aruwan was initially appointed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai in 2019 as the first Commissioner for Internal Security following the creation of the ministry.
Before his appointment, he served as the Senior Special Assistant on Media to El-Rufai from 2015 to 2019.
Aruwan’s dismissal follows allegations of misconduct. In October 2024, the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) recommended his suspension along with three other officials for alleged breaches of trust.
On November 8, 2024, he faced trial on six charges, including allegations of false asset declaration, failure to disclose certain bank accounts, and other financial irregularities during his tenure.
In Aruwan’s place, Governor Sani has appointed James Atung Kanyip as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
The governor also announced several other key appointments as part of the reshuffle, including:
– Ibrahim Mohammedas the new Commissioner for Finance.
– Barde Yunana Markus as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs.
