The Alumni Association of the old Kano State College of Arts, Science, and Remedial Studies, known as CAS Kano Class of 2001, held its Annual General Meeting at the college recently.
The meeting, which saw a large turnout of alumni, focused on the union’s growth, plans for the upcoming silver jubilee in 2026, and initiatives to support the development of the college.
Comrade Hamisu Musa Isa, the chairman of the chapter, spoke to the press following the meeting. He emphasized the need to establish a national leadership structure for the CAS Kano Alumni Association to better support the college and ensure its continued success. “Our goal is to strengthen our leadership, enhance the union’s activities, and contribute to the development of the school,” Isa said.
The chairman of the fundraising committee, Malam Hashim Hussaini Adam, also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the teachings of Allah and the Holy Prophet about promoting brotherhood and helping one another.
He expressed satisfaction with the association’s progress so far, highlighting both successes and challenges, and emphasized the need to continue working towards solutions for any obstacles the alumni association may face.
Alumni who attended the meeting shared their excitement at reconnecting with long-lost friends. Notable members, including Mohd Salisu Hamisu Fagge, Assad Isma’il Zakariyya, Abdulrahman Salisu Bala Darimin Iya (Sisco), and Habibu Sarki, expressed their happiness at reuniting after more than 20 years.
Many participants echoed their joy at meeting old faces and revisiting the bonds they had built during their college days.
The meeting also discussed the formation of a national leadership structure for the alumni association. The proposed structure aims to facilitate better coordination and contributions from alumni to support the college’s ongoing development.
The alumni expressed their delight at the college’s recent upgrade to the Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies, calling it a significant milestone and a testament to the institution’s growth and future potential.
Looking ahead, the CAS Kano alumni are committed to continuing their efforts to support the school, contribute to its development, and celebrate their shared history, particularly with the approaching silver jubilee in 2026.
