…A symbol of pride and inspiration for military personnel
From Atiku Sarki, Abuja
In an effort to foster unity and strengthen the morale of military personnel, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has unveiled the logo for the Armed Forces of Nigeria Tattoo 2025. He believes that the logo will serve as a source of pride and inspiration for both military personnel and the public.
Gen. Musa described the logo as a powerful symbol of the military’s resilience and historical significance. Speaking at the unveiling on Friday at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, he emphasized that the logo pays tribute to the armed forces’ legacy and vision.
“The unveiling of the Tattoo 2025 logo showcases the history, culture, practices, skills, discipline, and heritage of the Nigerian military. It represents discipline, command, obedience, loyalty, dedication, and sacrifice,” he said.
The Chief of Defence Staff further explained that every element of the new logo was meticulously designed to reflect the Armed Forces’ commitment to peace, security, and independence, as well as their role as a national pride.
According to Gen. Musa, military tattoos are events where armed forces showcase their history, culture, patriotism, skills, discipline, and heritage. He added that such events help eliminate issues of indiscipline and foster positive interactions between the military, civilians, and other state actors.
“This tattoo is a parade that invites other military forces to showcase their culture, parades, and activities. It fosters unity among us. This is a critical element for every professional armed force and sets us apart from irregular forces or non-state actors who do not understand these values,” he stated.
In his remarks, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, who was represented by the Director of Tourism, Mrs Ann Nenadi Dogo, expressed his enthusiasm and commended the CDS, Gen. Christopher Musa, for unveiling the Tattoo 2025 logo. He noted that the initiative would not only promote peace but also boost tourism activities in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He assured that, as the Minister of the FCT, he would continue to collaborate and partner with the military to carry out activities that would make the capital city the number one destination in Africa and the world.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Planning and Organizing Committee, Rear Admiral M. Mohammed, also commended the military’s enduring legacy of courage, unity, and dedication. He described the Tattoo 2025 initiative as a celebration of military operational excellence and the men and women behind Nigeria’s formidable armed forces.
“The Tattoo will become a source of national pride and a testament to the resilience and capabilities of our military,” Rear Admiral Mohammed said.
He concluded by praising the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, senior officers, and military personnel for making the event a success.
