From Musa Muhammad Kutama, Calabar
The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has affirmed Alhaji Usaini Isa Madaki as the sole chief of the Hausa community in the state, alongside his council of chiefs.
Speaking to our correspondent, Alhaji Madaki, the second Sarki Hausawa in Rivers, expressed gratitude to God, saying, “Alhamdulillahi, today, by His infinite mercy, the High Court in Port Harcourt has delivered a conclusion on the legal chieftaincy dispute between myself and Alhaji Musa Sa’idu, who challenged my position as chief for over a year.”
Alhaji Sa’idu, who opposed Madaki’s claim, had maintained that he was the most authentic candidate for the position. Since the demise of the late Isa Madaki, the former chief of the Hausa community, Alhaji Sa’idu had frequently presented himself as the rightful heir to the chieftaincy.
However, the court ruling on Wednesday put an end to the litigation, confirming Alhaji Usani Isa Madaki as the legitimate chief.
Following the verdict, residents of Port Harcourt and surrounding areas, particularly members of the Hausa community, have continued to flock to congratulate the chief.
State indigenes and well-wishers also lauded Madaki for his well-deserved victory.
Alhaji Madaki, while pledging to lead inclusively and without bias, thanked those who supported him throughout the legal process and stood by the truth.
Efforts by our correspondent to reach Alhaji Musa Sa’idu for comment were unsuccessful, as he declined calls.
