From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has welcomed the Federal High Court judgment affirming the party’s leadership, describing it as a victory for the rule of law, internal democracy, and constitutional order.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, Dan’iya said the ruling had strengthened the party’s resolve to remain focused on providing credible leadership and a viable alternative for Nigerians.

According to him, the court upheld the ADC’s preliminary objections, ruling that the dispute concerned the party’s internal affairs and therefore fell outside the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.

The court also held that the plaintiff lacked the legal standing to institute the suit and had failed to exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms before approaching the court.

Dan’iya said the judgment reaffirmed the principle that political parties should manage their internal affairs in line with their constitutions and democratic procedures.

“This judgment is a victory not just for the leadership of the African Democratic Congress, but for every member who believes in due process, internal democracy, and the supremacy of the rule of law. It reinforces the unity and stability of our great party as we prepare to offer Nigerians purposeful leadership,” he said.

He congratulated the party’s National Chairman, Chief David Mark, members of the National Working Committee, state executives, stakeholders, and the entire ADC family for their steadfastness throughout the legal process.

The governorship candidate urged party members to view the judgment as an opportunity to strengthen internal cohesion and recommit themselves to building a stronger, united, and people-oriented political platform.

“Our focus should now be on expanding our grassroots structures, deepening engagement with the people, and presenting practical solutions to the challenges confronting our nation.

“The time for unity, reconciliation, and constructive political engagement is now,” he added.

Dan’iya also commended the judiciary for discharging its constitutional responsibilities with independence and professionalism, noting that respect for judicial decisions remains essential to the survival of Nigeria’s democracy.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the leadership of the ADC and pledged to continue working with party leaders and members across the country to ensure the party’s success in Sokoto State and nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He further called on party faithful to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to the ideals of justice, accountability, good governance, and national development, expressing confidence that the ADC is well-positioned to provide the leadership needed to build a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria.
