The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River State has called on residents of the state to come out in large numbers to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The State Chairman of IPAC, Engineer Effiom Edet Okon, made the appeal while addressing journalists in Calabar.
He urged youths, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to mobilise eligible residents to participate in the voter registration exercise.
According to him, the council expects about 2.5 million people to register for their voter cards, stressing that active participation in the exercise will strengthen the state’s democratic process.
“I urge all Cross River residents, especially youths and traditional rulers, to encourage their subjects and communities to come out and register. Together, we can make Cross River a stronger force in Nigeria’s electoral process,” Okon said.
The IPAC chairman also commended the administration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu, describing the governor’s performance as commendable.
“He has done well for the state, and we expect him to do even more in the interest of the people,” he stated.
IPAC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Governor Otu-led administration, noting that the government has recorded significant achievements since assuming office.
The council urged residents, particularly young people, to take advantage of the voter registration exercise, describing it as an important civic responsibility that will enable them to participate in shaping the future of Cross River State and Nigeria.
