From Joseph Asegba, Yola
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has called on the people of the state to rededicate themselves to promoting peace and harmonious coexistence as Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
The Governor made the call in a Sallah message issued in Yola through his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.
He stressed that peace and harmony are essential for the people to enjoy the blessings of Allah, which he said abound in Adamawa State.
“First, I use this opportunity to wish all Muslims a happy Sallah and all Nigerians peace. Whatever we want for ourselves lies in our hands to achieve, especially as we approach an election year,” Fintiri stated.
He noted that Nigerians must work together to rescue the country from the challenges threatening national unity and stability, adding that Eid-el-Kabir offers another opportunity for total submission to the will of Allah.
“We must renew our relationship with fellow human beings and, most importantly, our duties to Allah. We must reflect more on the reason for our creation and strive to move closer to Allah,” he said.
Governor Fintiri further urged both leaders and followers to uphold the values of hope, sacrifice, and restoration, which he described as the central message of Eid-el-Kabir.
According to him, despite prevailing challenges and uncertainties, Nigerians should remain grateful to God for preserving peace in the country.
“You must remain grateful for many things, peace, love, and well-being. As long as there is hope, yesterday’s challenges can become history about how we turned things around,” he added.
The Governor stressed that challenges should not discourage Nigerians from building a better future.
“Being alive means there is an opportunity to learn from yesterday, improve today, and transform tomorrow. Builders look to tomorrow, and we must be builders in our minds,” he said.
Fintiri reiterated that his administration remains committed to building a better future for Adamawa State and urged citizens to remain steadfast and optimistic about the country’s progress.
He concluded by wishing Muslims in Adamawa State and across Nigeria a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration, saying, “Barka Da Sallah.”
