From Musa Muhammad Kutama, Calabar
Residents of Kutama town in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State have raised alarms over the deteriorating state of the road linking Kutama to the council headquarters, describing it as a potential “death trap.”
The appeal was made by Abubakar Zubairu Na Kutama after a site survey with media representatives, during which he expressed concern over the severity of erosion along the route.
“The road is almost eroded, and we fear it could cause fatal accidents,” he said.

Na Kutama revealed that the community has made efforts to repair the road through communal labour, but the damage has surpassed their capacity.
“There is needful attention from the state and local government to alleviate this suffering,” he added.
Kutama, which serves as one of the main business hubs in the council, continues to face disruptions in transportation and commerce due to the poor condition of the road.
Residents are urging Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Gwarzo local government chairman to intervene urgently to prevent potential accidents and further economic setbacks.
