President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that his administration is set to spend ₦ 51 billion for the implementation of the Pulako Resettlement Initiative.
The president disclosed this at the opening of the two-day North West Peace and Security Summit in Katsina State,
Represented by the Vice-President Kashim Shetima, Tinubu said the programme will be implemented in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Benue States.
The president revealed that the initiative was aimed at rebuilding the lives of Internally Displaced Persons IDPs, orphans, widows, and families affected by insecurity problems.
He said the programme also entails the construction of schools, health clinics and other essential facilities in security-ravaged areas.
Tinubu said his government in addition has designed a roadmap to tackle the insecurity problem.
According to him, this includes military and non-military approaches.
He commended the initiative of the Summit and called for the implementation of the recommendations of the Summit.
Our correspondent reports that the Summit drew governors from Seven States of the North West Zone, UNDP officials, Various NGOs and Security Chiefs.
Governor of Kano State Abba Kabir was represented by Secretary to the State Government Alh Baffa Bichi.
