From Joseph Asegba, Yola
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has dissolved the management board of the Jimeta Modern Market with immediate effect.
The sack affected the chairman and all members of the board, who have been directed to hand over all government property in their possession to the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, and made available to journalists in Yola on Tuesday.
“The Ministry of Commerce and Industry must now ensure a seamless transition and work diligently to maintain the market’s functionality,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
Fintiri urged relevant authorities to prioritise the welfare of market stakeholders and create a conducive business environment that supports economic growth in the state.
“The market’s success is crucial to the state’s economic well-being, and we expect the ministry to take all necessary steps to ensure its optimal operation,” he added.
