A non-governmental organisation, LADO Foundation, has paid tuition and examination fees for 17,888 students across secondary and tertiary institutions in Katsina State.
The Secretary of the foundation, Mohammed Ghali Salisu Bakori, disclosed this during the screening of beneficiaries at the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma.
Bakori said the beneficiaries include 5,487 university students, 3,313 students of colleges of education, and 206 students in technical colleges, whose tuition fees were fully settled by the foundation.
He added that the foundation also paid examination fees for 4,706 NECO candidates and 4,176 JAMB candidates, noting that the intervention was aimed at ensuring that financial hardship does not hinder young people from pursuing their education.
Bakori further explained that the LADO Foundation has expanded its activities to include skills training for youths and women to promote self-reliance.
“We have trained hundreds of youths and women in different skills and provided them with cash assistance to start their own businesses,” he said.
He also revealed that the foundation undertakes medical interventions by settling hospital bills for patients suffering from various ailments.
According to him, the foundation—established by Senator Lado Danmarke—is non-political and is focused on providing humanitarian support to vulnerable citizens.
He assured that the foundation will continue to prioritise financial assistance to less privileged persons across the state.
