Barely four days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited Heipang Airport to engage community leaders, religious figures, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders over the recent violence in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, fresh attacks have again rocked communities in the area.
Pwomol Village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area came under attack when suspected armed Fulani terrorists stormed the community around midnight, killing two youths.
The incident marks the second attack on the Heipang axis within one week.
The victims were reportedly members of the local vigilante group who were on night watch when the assailants struck.
Another resident sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.
In the course of the attack, one of the suspects, identified as Suleiman, a Fulani man from Fass community in Riyom Local Government Area, was apprehended at about 1:00 a.m.
He was arrested near the Redemption Camp area between Heipang and Kassa, with visible bloodstains on his body.
Sources told our correspondent that the attackers, numbering over one hundred, infiltrated the community through the rear, taking advantage of the fact that vigilantes were focused on monitoring the major access routes.
The arrested suspect is currently in the custody of security operatives at Sector 4 in Barkin Ladi.
Reacting to the incident, the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), led by its National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, called on security agencies to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation and ensure that justice is swiftly served.
The group also urged authorities to intensify interrogation of the suspect to uncover vital information that could lead to the arrest of other perpetrators and their collaborators.

This position was contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of BYM, Rwang Tengwong, and made available to journalists in Jos on Monday.

Meanwhile, following the Easter Sunday violence, the Plateau State Police Command visited the scene of the incident on Monday after the burial of the victims.
The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Bassey Ewah, disclosed that on April 6, 2026, at about 4:30 a.m., the command received a distress call reporting gunshots in Pwomol Village.
