…Zulum names estate after Buni

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, commissioned housing and road projects in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

A press statement signed by Mamman Mohammad, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, stated that Governor Buni, who was the special guest of honor at the event, praised his Borno State counterpart, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, for his investment in people-oriented projects.

Governor Buni remarked, “Borno and Yobe states have always been united. We are a people bound by the same culture and traditions, though separated for administrative convenience.

“We have always stood by one another, sharing both the good and the challenging moments. We have also faced the tragic and unfortunate insurgency that claimed many precious lives, displaced millions, and destroyed critical infrastructure, setting us back many years.”

He continued, “Today, both Borno and Yobe states are working hard to emerge from that challenge by adopting the Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Recovery programme.”

Governor Buni went on to highlight the efforts made by Yobe State to invest in education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, and empowerment to create sustainable livelihoods for its people.

“This year, we launched a multi-billion Naira agricultural empowerment programme, which has redefined agricultural production, especially at the end of the harvest season.

We have also provided support to flood victims, vulnerable persons, and small and medium-scale entrepreneurs, disbursing N2.93 billion to stimulate economic growth,” he said.

“I am pleased to report that the interventions made by both states are laying a solid foundation for a prosperous future,” Governor Buni added.

He urged the beneficiaries of the projects to take ownership of the infrastructure provided by the government. “It is your property, and it is meant to serve you effectively and efficiently. You should, therefore, protect it,” he said.

The governor also encouraged the people of Borno State to continue supporting their state government.

“Your support for the policies and programs of the government will undoubtedly create a conducive environment for more positive initiatives and projects that will better serve you. There are greater opportunities ahead for our people to live with dignity,” Buni remarked.

Governor Buni also commended the federal government, security forces, paramilitary agencies, the Civilian JTF, and vigilantes for their support to both states.

Earlier, Governor Zulum explained that the projects were designed to improve the lives of the people of Borno.

In recognition of Governor Buni’s contributions, Zulum announced that the 500 housing units in Njimtilo, Maiduguri, would be named in his honor.

“The 500 Njimtilo housing units will henceforth be known as the Mai Mala Housing Estate,” Zulum declared.
