Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has announced plans to construct a 197km road, named the “Green Line,” through the Yobe State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). This project aims to improve access to markets for farmers and contribute to food security in the state.
The Project Coordinator of the Yobe State RAAMP, Arc. Musa Suleh Damagum, shared the details in an interview with our reporter in Damaturu, the state capital.
According to Damagum, Governor Buni has directed the construction of a road that will span from Garin Alkali in Bursari Local Government to Mutai in Gujba Local Government, crossing the federal road at Ngelzarma, and covering a total distance of 197 km.
“This road, which we have termed the ‘Green Line,’ will pass through all three senatorial zones in the state. It will provide farmers with better access to markets, thereby supporting food security in the region,” Damagum explained.
He added that the upcoming 500km of roads and various other projects being undertaken by the state government are part of the Governor’s comprehensive infrastructure plan to link all 178 wards in Yobe with viable access roads.
Damagum praised Governor Buni’s leadership, noting that his efforts have positioned Yobe as a key participant in the RAAMP project, which focuses on rural development and agricultural prosperity.
Under Governor Buni’s leadership, the project will fast-track the construction and rehabilitation of critical rural roads, ensuring improved access to agricultural markets and providing much-needed support to enhance the livelihoods of rural communities.
Damagum expressed confidence that Governor Buni will fulfill his commitments and usher in a transformative era of rural development and inclusive growth. He emphasized that the Governor’s dedication to addressing the needs of rural areas would lead to tangible, sustainable progress across Yobe State.
