Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved the creation of two additional districts in Argungu Local Government Area of the state.
The approval was announced in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the Argungu Local Government Council resolved to create two additional districts within the Argungu municipality to enhance grassroots administration and traditional leadership.
The newly created and upgraded districts are: Yamman District, with its headquarters at Gungu, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammad Mera has been appointed as the District Head of the newly created district.
Gwagange District, which has been upgraded. Alhaji Darikwai Muhammadu Ibrahim has been appointed as the substantive District Head of the upgraded Gwagange District.
The commissioner explained that the creation of the new district and the upgrading of Gwagange District were carried out in accordance with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which empower local governments to create and upgrade districts.
He urged the newly appointed district heads to discharge their responsibilities with discipline, honesty, transparency, and dedication.
“Your appointments were based on your proven track records. Be assured of the continued support and cooperation of the Governor and the Ministry as you carry out your responsibilities,” the commissioner stated.
