From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has launched new sub-stations for the State Transport Authority (KTSTA), in Mashi and Ingawa Local Government Areas.
At the launch of the sub-stations at the two local government headquarters, Governor Radda said the stations will serve as parking and take-off points for KTSTA vehicles in the two LGAs.
He said the expansion of KTSTA services to more parts of the state was aimed at easing the transport fare in the face of high petrol prices.
The governor noted that the agency would continue to provide subsidies for intra and inter-city journeys in the state to make long-distance transportation affordable and accessible for travellers.
He commended the KTSTA management under the leadership of Alhaji Haruna Musa Rugoji who has helped in transforming the agency.
In his remarks, the General Manager of KTSTA, Haruna Musa Rugoji, said the sub-stations were designed with large parking spaces, office accommodations, waiting rooms and roofed calendars to make them conducive for passengers and KTSTA officials.
He explained that the two new sub-stations will decongest the stations in Daura and Katsina and make it easy for KTSTA vehicles to take off with passengers from Mashi and Ingawa to convey them to other parts of the state and beyond.
Rugoji disclosed that the agency plans to launch new sub-stations in major towns to bring public transport closer to the people in all parts of the state.
He said the agency will continue to purchase new vehicles periodically to provide more revenue to the state government while also providing affordable transportation services to the people of the state.
