Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged substantial support for orphans of the Aytam Foundation, including foodstuffs, clothing, land for a school, and Hajj seats, to enhance their welfare and promote inclusiveness.
The governor made the announcement on Sunday during the closing ceremony of the Annual Qur’anic Competition organised by the foundation at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, according to a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the level of Qur’anic memorisation demonstrated by the orphans and subsequently allocated two Hajj seats each to the winners of the male and female categories, as well as two of their facilitators.
He further disclosed plans to personally construct a boarding school to provide both Islamic and Western education for the orphans, describing the initiative as part of the administration’s social responsibility efforts to improve society.
The governor also commended the proprietor of the foundation, Alhaji Muhammad Shuaibu Abubakar, and his coordinators for equipping the orphans to become self-reliant and productive members of their communities.
Governor Yusuf acknowledged the cooperation extended to the foundation by the State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, the Hisbah Board, and traditional institutions across Kano State.
During the ceremony, gifts were presented to the best-performing students, including Abdulkarim Mustapha and Zainab Aminu, who emerged overall best in the male and female categories, respectively.
