Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has signed the 2024 supplementary budget totalling N99,221,503,569.93 into Law after it was scrutinized and passed by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The state Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye made the statement while briefing newsmen at the Government House immediately after assenting the budget to the governor.
The supplementary budget is to complement the earlier budget approved of N437,338,312,787.93 and is made of N68.2 billion, which is 42% for personnel and overhead cost, while N30.9 billion, amounting to 58% for capital expenditure.
According to Dantiye after signing the supplementary, the state’s total budget for the year 2024 stood at N536,559,816,357.84
Baba Halilu added that the supplementary budget was necessitated to accommodate some exigencies not captured in the first budget.
Areas that the new budget would cover include the New National Minimum Wage for Civil Servants in the State, Local government elections, the Provision of School uniforms to Primary pupils, and a review of the cost of projects of some critical infrastructure occasioned by the skyrocketed prices of goods and services.
The Commissioner maintained that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appreciated the support of the Kano State of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ismaila Jibril Falgore to the executive arm of government in Kano.
Governor Abba Kabir also appreciated the support and cooperation of the people of the State to the present administration and hoped for the sustenance of the state.
