Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday, swore in Umar Farouk Ibrahim as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the governor’s office, was a low-key event officiated by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi.
The Triumph quoted the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stating that Ibrahim was chosen due to his extensive experience and expertise, which are expected to play a crucial role in advancing the administration’s development agenda.
Ibrahim brings over three decades of distinguished public service experience to his new role.
His career in the civil service, spanning from 1987 to 2023, has been marked by key leadership positions that contributed significantly to the governance and administrative structure of Kano State.
From March 2001 to May 2015, he served as the Permanent Secretary for Research, Evaluation, and Political Affairs in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, where he played a vital role in policy analysis and advising the government on strategic alternatives.
He later held the position of Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services Directorate from June 2015 to March 2016.
Ibrahim, an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, earned his degree in 1985 and has since obtained several professional certifications that have further enriched his qualifications.
Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in Ibrahim’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the realization of his administration’s vision for Kano State.
He emphasized the need for experienced leadership to drive sustainable development and growth in the state.
With his wealth of experience, stakeholders anticipate that Ibrahim’s tenure as SSG will bring continuity and efficiency to the administration’s policies and initiatives.
