Hundreds of young people in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State have received a major boost in their quest for economic stability following the issuance of employment letters to 521 beneficiaries under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The beneficiaries, comprising young men and women drawn from the ten wards of the local government area, were formally presented with their appointment letters during a ceremony attended by government officials, political leaders, community stakeholders, and supporters.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Gwale Local Government, Hon. Abubakar Mu’azu Mojo, described the recruitment exercise as a practical demonstration of Governor Yusuf’s commitment to youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and grassroots development.
According to Mojo, the beneficiaries were selected from among youths who had actively participated in various community and government programmes over the years, adding that the appointments were aimed at rewarding dedication while providing a sustainable means of livelihood for the beneficiaries and their families.
He explained that the newly recruited workers would be deployed to strategic sectors, including education, healthcare, and the Neighbourhood Security Watch, where their services would contribute significantly to improving public service delivery and community development.
The council chairman noted that employment creation remains one of the most effective ways of tackling poverty and unemployment, stressing that the present administration has continued to prioritize policies that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens across Kano State.
“Today’s event is not just about distributing employment letters; it is about restoring hope, creating opportunities, and empowering young people to become productive members of society,” Mojo said, while urging the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them through hard work, discipline, and dedication.
Also speaking, the Kano State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Hon. Gaddafi Shehu, described the occasion as a milestone for the beneficiaries, noting that the recruitment exercise further reflects the people-centred approach of Governor Yusuf’s administration.
He said those who work closely with the governor can attest to his commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through developmental projects, social interventions, and employment opportunities designed to enhance the living standards of Kano residents.
Stakeholders, councillors, and community leaders who attended the ceremony commended both Governor Yusuf and the Gwale Local Government leadership for ensuring that the recruitment process reflected fairness and inclusiveness.
They noted that every ward in the local government benefited from the exercise and urged the newly employed workers to serve as worthy ambassadors of their communities while contributing meaningfully to the development of Kano State.
