Katsina Development Fund (Gidauniya) has drilled over 893 concrete and boreholes to provide communities with clean water
The Executive Secretary/Chief executive of the fund, Ahmed Ibrahim Karfi revealed this during the commissioning of a hand pump borehole at Matsai village in Kaita Local government area.
Karfi said out of the figure, 839 are concrete while 54 are boreholes.
According to him, the construction of the work cost the fund about ₦239.8million.
Earlier, Chairman of the fund, Dr. Umar Mutallab explained that the fund has so far spent N1 billion for its activities from 1991 to date.
Mutallab said the amount was spent on the payment of salaries, office expenses and execution of development projects.
Represented by a member water committee of the fund, Eng. Bello Mohammed called on the people of Matsai village to protect the water facilities from vandalization.
In his speech, the District Head of Kaita and Sarkin sullubawa, Yazid Kabir commended the fund for uplifting the lives of rural communities.
