Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, whisking him away to an unknown destination.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the President of the Igbo National Council (INC), Chilos Godsent, the abduction took place on Saturday evening at Works Layout in Owerri, Imo State.
The statement detailed that the assailants, dressed in black and numbering up to seven, arrived in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV. They forcefully seized Comrade Igboayaka in what was described as a “Neo-Mafia Gestapo manner” before speeding off to an undisclosed location.
The incident has sparked widespread concern among members of the Igbo community and beyond, with calls for urgent intervention from security agencies.
As of the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the whereabouts of Comrade Igboayaka remain unknown. Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
