From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Rimi Local Government Council in Katsina State has executed 112 projects between June and December 2025, the council chairman, Mahammed Ali Rimi, has said.
Ali disclosed this on Thursday while receiving Governor Dikko Umar Radda during a working visit to the local government area.
He said the projects, spread across the 10 wards of the council, include the construction of roads and culverts, building of primary schools and mosques, provision of potable water, and renovation of health centres.
According to him, the projects were funded by the local government as part of efforts to improve the living standards of residents.
Ali also announced the distribution of empowerment items to various categories of beneficiaries to promote self-reliance. The items, he said, include sewing machines, spaghetti-making machines, motorcycles, cars, cartons of noodles, cows and other materials.
“These empowerment items are meant to support our people economically and help them become self-reliant,” he said.
The council chairman commended the Katsina State Government for granting financial autonomy to local government councils, noting that it has enabled councils to execute people-oriented projects.
He described the governor’s working visit to local government areas as a way of encouraging improved performance and identifying the needs of grassroots communities.
In his response, Governor Radda commended the council for what he described as an impressive performance within a short period.
“I am impressed with what I have seen on the ground. Rimi has stood tall among its peers within a short time,” the governor said.
Earlier, Radda paid a courtesy visit to the Kaura of Katsina, Alhaji Aminu Nuhu Abdulkadir, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with traditional institutions to advance development in the state.
He also met with stakeholders in Rimi Local Government Area.
Speaking during the meeting, the chairman of stakeholders, Salisu Mamman Kadandani, praised the state government for taking steps to revive the abandoned Lambar Rimi windmill project.
He assured that stakeholders would continue to work with the government to ensure smooth implementation of its policies and programmes.
