The normal sales of PMS (fuel) in Adamawa have been restored filling stations are dispensing the products following Governor Ahamadu Umaru Fintiri’s intervention.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria Adamawa state chapter shields it to reopen all filling stations earlier closed as an allegation that Nigerian Customs Service operatives were sealing petrol stations.
The Nigeria Customs Service officers in their routing exercise to some border Community intercepted six truckloads of petrol believed to be smuggled items to neighbouring Cameroon.
The customs says its action is in line with its mandate of curbing smuggling activities
Following the meeting sermon by the state government to ensure peace and adequate supply of petrol across the state.
Speaking to newsmen immediately after the meeting which lasted for over three hours, the Adamawa Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Geroge Farauta revealed that the matter has been put to rest as both parties have agreed to sheath their swords.
She accordingly said, “The meeting was at the instance of the state government and both parties have agreed to sheath their swords.
“As a family, we have all agreed to sheath our swords and ensure the return of normalcy to reduce hardship on the people.”
On his part, the Comptroller of Customs, Adamawa/Taraba command, Garba Bashir said, “I’ve contacted the headquarters and they have directed that the seized trucks and the sealed filling stations be transferred to Nigerian Mainstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulation Authority.
