The Kano State Government has called on citizens to present their priority developmental needs to ensure proper consideration and implementation by the current administration.
The appeal was made public in a statement issued on Thursday by Hassana Aminu, Information Officer of Dala Local Government, who signed the release.
The state Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Dr. Abdulkadir Abdussalam, made the call during a Town Hall meeting in Dala Local Government Area. The event brought together ward and district heads, community leaders, councillors, government officials, and other key stakeholders.
Represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Musbahu Ahmad Badawi, Dr. Abdussalam explained that the exercise aims to collect grassroots demands in line with the directive of the Executive Governor. He stressed that as Kano continues to grow in size, population, and economic activity, the government must remain proactive in providing infrastructure and policies that sustain peace and accelerate development.
Alhaji Badawi noted that all citizens’ requests will be documented in a data system for efficient review and processing. He further explained that a special mechanism has been established to ensure proper handling of submissions.
After the collation of requests, a Rural Development Summit will be convened, he said, where experts will evaluate the submissions and determine which projects fall under the responsibility of local governments, the state, the federal government, or donor agencies.
Chairman of Dala Local Government, Alhaji Surajo Ibrahim Imam, praised the initiative, describing it as a people-driven process that prioritizes community needs over leadership preferences. He also emphasized the importance of empowering ward heads with offices, mobility tools such as motorcycles, and allowances to support their work.
Similarly, the Council’s Director of Administration and General Services, Alhaji Bakari Abba, urged citizens to actively identify meaningful projects within their communities to ensure proper delivery of the dividends of democracy.
District Head of Gobirawa and Dan Amar of Kano, Alhaji Aliyu Harazumi, stressed the need to provide offices for district and ward heads to enhance service delivery. He prayed for Allah’s guidance and the successful implementation of the programme.
The Town Hall was well attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Rural and Community Development, security agencies, directors, councillors, advisers, and other public dignitaries.
