The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, on Sunday, led a special delegation on a condolence visit to the families of victims who tragically lost their lives in a recent car accident.
The victims, who were returning from a sporting event held in Ogun State, had represented Kano during the inter-state tournament.
The fatal accident, which occurred on Saturday, claimed several lives and plunged their families into mourning. In response, the Deputy Governor visited the affected local government areas of Nasarawa, Minjibir, and Gwale to express the government’s sympathy and support.
During the visit, Comrade Gwarzo conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the state government. He prayed for the souls of the departed, asking Almighty Allah to grant them mercy and forgiveness. He also extended prayers for strength and comfort to the bereaved families.
In line with earlier promises made by the Kano State Government, each bereaved family received N1 million in financial assistance to help cushion the hardship brought about by the sudden loss. In addition to the cash donation, the Deputy Governor distributed essential food items including bags of rice, packs of macaroni, spaghetti, semovita, and cooking oil.
“This gesture is to show that the government stands with you in this moment of grief,” Gwarzo stated. “While we know nothing can replace the lives lost, we hope this support eases the burden on the families.”
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government Area, and the Chairman of Minjibir Local Government Area.
Community members expressed appreciation for the visit and the government’s swift intervention, describing it as a humane and timely response to an unexpected tragedy.
The state government has vowed to continue supporting the affected families and promised to work with relevant agencies to improve the safety of road travel for future official engagements.
